In my mind the pad is simply a sound dampner. In that case, any 1/4" thick closed cell neoprene pad will work.

Wasn't sure what it's duty was. Mine is about 1/2 in. A little contact cement and some foam then

I think it's a lid for the tool tray. On closer inspection, it fits snugly on top of the tray.

My '79 doesn't have the tool tray there, so I wouldn't know.
