Mystic Main Bearing was created by Bmwgsa
So while fixing leaks on my 1994 Mystic, I removed the oil pan and found a pin..

This pin I belive is used to keep the main bearing from moving and cutting off the oil supply to the rocker arms.

Does anyone knoe of a video of this repair ?

I'm not an expert on the BMW engine, but typically pins in the crank area usually cannot "fall out" without the crankshaft first being removed.

Measurements of the pin you found and a photo would certainly help us help you.

Again, looking for Info on the repair mentioned by SnowBum

"***A somewhat rare event, but has been seen now and then, is an engine with the front main bearing having rotated, which cuts off oil to the rocker arms, and lowers oil pressure. You will usually find a steel pin, of about 4 mm diameter, about 11 mm long, in the oil pan. The main bearing is a press-fit, but if the pin, which is supposed to be pressed-in and staked, comes out (substantial oil pressure is there, helping to push out the pin), then the bearing might rotate. The pin is 11-11-1-253-184. This is a SERIOUS event, and usually requires the entire front of the engine to be disassembled."

A video would be awsome, but I have yet to find one

So in preperation for this reapir I have purchased a used main bearing cover, have not recived it yet.

My plan is to have this one drilled and tapped so that this one is ready once I take the front end off.

I see that there is 8 diffrent bearings for the front end, so I will have to wait and see what one is required and hope I can see the color as to identify it properly.
