DescriptionAfter 20 years of happy travels together, my advancing age requires finding a new home for my much-loved Borboleta. I’m the second owner, having bought this from an old friend. This bike has always received the best of care, and that is reflected in her condition. Included in the sale are the OEM tools and the owner’s manual, the OEM panniers and liners.
She appears totally original at first glance, but tasteful mods have been made in the interest of reliability, performance and rider comfort: suspension upgrades are Progressive fork springs and rebuilt Koni Dial-a-Ride rear shocks; a Toaster Tan billet alloy triple clamp and fork brace assure this is no “Rubber Cow;” a Motorradelectrik digital ignition firing Accel coils keep the sparks to the dual plugs in order; a Bill Mayer custom seat provides all-day comfort for the rider; the Brown’s side stand provides confidence when parking. The brakes have EBC rotors in front and a Luftmeister rotor out back. Stainless steel brake hoses complete the upgrade. The front master cylinder was replaced about 5 K miles back. She has Oxford heated grips.
Everything works as it should with the small exception of the neutral indicator light. I replaced the clutch disk, rear main and oil pump seal last fall before she was put away for the winter. The splines were lubed at that time, as well.
This is a fine example of a dual-shock R100RS. The original paint is in good condition. There are zero leaks from the drive train, no rust or dents in the fuel tank. In short, this is not an old project, but a well-maintained daily rider. It needs zero oil added between oil changes and runs strong. I continued to ride with a broken odometer for a time, so I can only estimate the actual miles on the drive train – 100K miles +/-. The bike now has a new speedometer.
